My Ride: 2010 Lexus HS 250h...looking to get a 2011 535xi
I just spoke to a salesman who notified me that they are now taking orders for the 2006 530xi (May production, June delivery).
WHile he didn't yet have the exact figures yet, the increase in price (for the non-xi) will be smaller than it was between 2004 and 2005.
He said for the 2006 530xi, they are offering MSRP - $2000. Another dealer I spoke to said he doubted they'd discount the 530xi's much at all since they will be in high demand...)
My question: is the offer of MSRP - $2K a "good" deal for this car? (I know there is always room for some negotiation, but just curious if they are starting out relatively "aggressively"...)
Thanks!
Thanks all for your input. I, too, though that $2K seemed reasonable. He says I can come in and place an order, but when I asked if he has the 2006 option lists, he said "other than the keyless start, the options should be the same as for the 2005s". While this may very well be true, it makes me think that the order I potentially place will, in fact, be more of a "pre-preorder" to get me to buy it there instead of going elsewhere.
The other dealer I'd prefer to use (locationwise) said they'd call me as soon as orders can be placed, and I believe them...; but this is the same dealer who said they wouldn't be discounting the xi's at all. I guess I can call them and tell them the other guys say I can order one now and for $2K off.
Thanks, all, for your support. I've had a lot of nice cars in my 41-year old life, but the 530xi will not only be nhe nicest, but easily the most $$$. Coming to this board keeps my feet from getting too cold...
MSRP minus 2K for the '06 with AWD is a very good offer, IMO.
The only way to know whether 2000 under MSRP is a good deal is to talk to other dealers to find out how low they will go. Obviously this will come down to supply and demand. If the car turns out to be very hot, dealers will try to get MSRP or something very close to it.
