Well I got some good news today. CNA warranty company checked it out at the mechanic's shop and has agreed to the repair which gives me a great relief as normally without a warranty it would have been a pretty expensive repair. Did ask the BMW NA customer relations person on this site for their opinion and I got a message back on here that the missing screws could cause the head gasket to go bad and that someone will contact me. I did give them my VIN #.......guess that was smart although I don't know how they will contact me unless you can track by the VIN # who is now the current owner. Also, TurboAwd asked me if the head gasket seemed to be original and the mechanic said he thought so. Should have my car back on Thursday.

I think they will have an answer.....but by the time I get it I will have my car back. Carmax came through for me and my confidence in them is where it should be. One thing I can say about the BMW NA rep is that I do expect to hear from someone there....I just don't know how reactive they are is all. We shall see, but Carmax has been very proactive which I appreciate. Got a phone a call everyday giving me an update.

Thanks turboawd for your suggested questions and feedback. Hope to pay it forward with other 5 series owners down the road. These cars are certainly terrific to drive. I love my job but getting there in this ride makes me look forward to work even more every day.
