I have the crumbling insulation issue. I have an 06 530i with adaptive headlights.
Two weeks ago---I needed to replace a light on the right side. I noticed the issue with the wiring insulation. It was bad--very bad. I repaired whatever could access with heat shrink insulation. I put it all back together---and I now have the adaptive light warning light! BMW code fault 9BCF--(LM SMC right signalling fault). According to other online input--seems there is a short to the to/in the stepper motor. It works, but only "up and down"---not left and right. I was able to test it with my Schwaben Scanner/tester. Left side works properly.
So.....I have purchased a "correct" used replacement headlight (it is is very good shape). I will replace it soon.
My question is---Can I/should I re-use the original adaptive headlight module? I would like to avoid and re-coding after I replace the headlight. Is it a good idea to re-use the original adaptive headlight module---and will this enable me to avoid re-coding
Thanks!
