How much of a different between these 2? I wanted a 05 530i but its hard to find a clean one with low mileage. Theres a 06 525i with 74k mi. that is still very clean inside and out. I know that the 06 525i the hp is bump up to 215 or something. How big of a different is the 06 525i compare to the 05 530i power wise and does the 06 525i model have any real major problems? Also is there any different between a sports package and a premium package? Or are they both the same just worded different? Thanks.

 

What price range are you looking to spend? I've seen some good deals here in the Inland Empire with decent mileage.

 

around $18-20k, theres a lot of 04-05 530i at $17-18k but the mileage is in the high 80s. The 06 525i i went to go look at have 74k mi, still pretty clean inside and out and is for $18k also.

 

do u feel that the first year production (2004) have the most problems? i was interested in a 04 545i but i was told to avoid first year production. I notice on the bottom of your sig u own a 04 545i. Whats your take on this? Any real major problems with your 04 545i?

 

06 525 was 240hp and the 530 is 270 i think, its been awhile tho and too lazy to google. 74k-80k miles is not that much of a difference

 

I have an 06 525i and I love it. My wife surprised me with it almost a year ago. It had 44K miles and paid under $20K for it with CPO. The only mechanical problem so far was a bad ignition coil. The car runs smooth. It has a nominal 215hp. The I believe the 05 530 has 255hp with the M54 engine. Those seem to be reliable as well. The upside to the M54 engine is you can get a supercharger for it.

 

Why do people spread completely wrong info. Being too lazy to google but not to lazy to type in an answer full of wrong info. Do a search. M54 engine in the 530 225hp. That was in 04 and 05. In 06-07 it has the n52 engine with 255 hp. The 525 has 185 hp with the M54 and in 06-07 has 215. So you are compariing a 525 with 215hp to a 530 with 525 hp

 

I have an 04 525 but production year 03 and so far the problem i've have had was passenger side restraint system and adaptive headlight failure. I currently have 84k miles and still running strong, what i've noticed is that the valve ticking is my only annoyance, but besides from that the car has been good to me. Best of luck on your choices, look for an lower mileage car so you still have some time till maintenance comes up and could be costly.
