2005 E60 530D - MPM Meltdown.

Afternoon,

Just jumped in to my car to find that the iDrive, Radio etc not working. After doing a little more investigation and reading on here, I found that my MPM has melted along with the connector.
The cause seems to be a 5L bottle coolant dumping it's contents all over the boot on the way back from purchasing it...

Great Weekend so far ..

Disconnected Battery, cleaned everything up and managed to remove the module.

Looking on ebay, I can see there are modules available but the part number differs from mine in most cases

My one had a part number of 6135-6939655 but the majority listed seem to be 6135-9266274.

Can either be used?

Is this just plug and play or will it require coding?

Thanks for your help advance,

Rich.

I can't help you with the part number cross-referencing, but I do know that NO coding is required. MPMs on ebay or in salvage yards are usually $100 or less, and yes, they are plug and play.

good luck, make sure you reposition the new MPM after you get it in. BMW actually put out an SIB about this years ago, you can find it online if you do a google search.

Try going to Realoem.com And enter your car, drive down and locate your MPM, they will list the build part number and the superseding part numbers.

I would be willing to bet there interchangeable, and no coding required. IIRC BMW will do the parts to repair the wiring if you cant get a breakers to give you a wiring pigtail.

Hi, did your replacement work? Which model number did you end up getting? Was it plugin play or did you have to go reprogram/code it somewhere? I have same issue now. Thanks!
