So myself and a buddy of mine are trying to get this 525i straightened out. It is currently a no-crank, and apparently it's been in this condition for about the past 4 months.The battery was completely smoked, so that was the first thing replaced. Scanned the car again and cleared out all the low voltage codes, and did the routine to update the settings for a new battery. So now we're trying to sort out the no-crank issue.

I noticed that now it has a healthy battery (which is now also attached to a maintainer while we're working on the car) that I can hear the idle air motor buzzing. It never shuts off. So that led us to the main DME relay in the electronics box. I dug it out of the box and did some testing and determined that the relay itself is working properly. The DME is staying powered up and holding the relay closed. So I'm trying to figure out why the DME would be refusing to go to sleep. I've also figured out that the entire car is basically awake when it shouldn't be. With the key out of the ignition I can talk to almost every module in the car, including seeing the live data.

There are also two codes in the Car Access System that caught my attention. A120 - Terminal 30G short circuit, and A0C7 - Terminal R. Pulling up the live data in the CAS, I can see that the voltages shown for these terminals is definitely wrong. 30G shows either 10.5 volts or just under 1 volt depending on if the corresponding relay is pulled out of its socket. R shows around 1 volt.

So would the problem on the 30G and R circuits be enough to make the CAS keep the entire car awake? And cause the no-crank?

I would address the short circuit before going forward.
