Hello,

This is my first post here (seems a lot of info on this forum) and i have searched for related topics but they seem "software" related.

I would be most grateful if anyone can advise if it is possible to remove the factory standard Cd radio head unit in the dashboard with a newer BMW Visteon LCI MASK MP3 CHAMP Radio CD Player.

The reason being the factory standard only plays original CDS (or lucky on the day CDR's) and I would like to play MP3 CDs?

1. So will this be a straight forward plug and play swap?

2. Will there be an wiring issues? Apparently, the new radio has a SQUARE/BLADE pin type (dont know what the 2004 e60 has?)

3. Will there be any Idrive software issues encountered? or need for software upgrade?

4. Or is this just a bad idea?
