Default 2004 E60 525dA M-sport - Ever replaced this part?

Hi All,

I have a problem - I think.

My car got remapped for some months ago (going from 177HP to approx. 220HP) and I immediately noticed that I missed torque in the lower range of RPM (up to 2800RPM). When I reach approx. 2800RPM the car really gets torque and off she goes. Also I have a lag in throttle response when I start from still. When the car is cold I have more torque in the lower RPM.

I talked with the guy who made the remap, and he told me that he has used the same type of map on plenty of E60 525dA and 530dA and that I should have max torque around 2000RPM - and not at 2800RM. He told me that he was pretty sure that it is the pressure converter, that should be replaced. Partnumber: 11-74-7-796-634.

Have anyone experienced the same symptoms and replaced the pressure converter?

The thing with the pressure converter is, that there are two identical parts in the engine. One in the turbo and other one in the EGR. The question is, which part to replace when you have the symptoms I have? And just to complicate it a little more, the pressure converter in the turbo can either be mechanical or automatic. If it is the automatic part, and if that is the one to replace, I heard that you have to replace the whole turbo?

Do you think that the problem lies in the pressure converter and which one do I have to replace? Can I measure it by diagnostics tools and find out which is defect? There are no fault codes in BMW diagnostics tools.

I of course tried to map my car back to normal but now I also can feel the missing torque in the lower RPM, but not in the same way, because the cars doesn't have the same power.

I am today driving with the remap and love the way the car moves when I hit the high RPM.

I hope some of you out there have the answers to my questions

Thank you for your help,

Regards,

Kadir
