2004 525i - where is return air intake ?

My Ride: 2004 525i, Metalic Gray, Premium Package
To eliminate the disgusting odor from AC, I have sprayed 3 cans of Lysol into the two air intakes from underneath the hood.
It helps but the odor is still present. I'd like to try to spray some more Lysol into where the air in the car flows back into the blower when the closed circulation mode is turned on. But I can't find where the incabin intake is located.
Talked to BMW dealer who said 2004 525i does not have such a return path. He mentioned some later model has one. I am completely puzzled - how could there not be a return path for the air to move in the closed circulation mode?
