Well, it finally hit after 7 years - the 200K mile threshold. I never thought I'd keep a car this long, let alone hit this mileage. And, I never would have DREAMED I'd be so in love with the damned thing I'm actually plotting ways to prolong the marriage. It's been a long road, had some potholes and dirt roads on the journey, but the ole 545i has just enough unpolished nature to give it a driving dynamic I cannot find on any other car in its class. The LCI 550 was awesome to test and thrash around (my apologies to the un-named dealer). But, for some odd reason, I crave the unrefined nature of the N62B44. Go figure.
Who else is in the 200K club???

Wow congrats! Have you experienced any major mechanical issues? I am curious how long the tranny will normally go for.

I've had a slew of wonderful things happen over the years (many posted within these forums starting from soon after joining in 2007 lol). Tranny main seal leaks (ouchie), pan leaks, valve cover leaks, coolant issues, catalytic converter issues (ugh), water pump/thermostat replacements, secondary air crapola, yadda yadda. But, it is the original tranny, original engine, original mechatronics - the trans needs topping off periodically but shifts just fine. Engine idles smoothly and still has great power (puffs a bit of smoke like a sailor after 4+ minutes of idle though). I was car shopping, but since this thing is pretty much paid for, I may start reinvesting heavily in it.

I just crossed 109,500 miles with my 545i SMG. 2005 model, purchased in Nov 2004. So I'm approaching 9 years.
Had about $7000 of repairs made a couple of months ago. New alternator, oil leaks, new valley pan and coolant related items, control arm bushings, both SMG paddles replaced.
I'm having all sorts of electrical problems now. I noticed that electrical wires in my headlights have the sheathing cracking and flaking off, leaving exposed wire showing. I'm sure this is not limited to the headlights. Probably just a matter of time before things start shorting out.
My trunk lid won't open right now because it needs a new wire harness. Only way to open the trunk is to climb inside from the back seat and pull the emergency release. $1000 fix. Part on order from Germany.
Passenger side view mirror needs a new motor. $450 I'm not doing it.
My active headlights won't turn with the steering anymore. They want $1000 to replace that module. I'm not doing it.
I love my 545i but I'm very concerned that the time has come I must let her go. I probably should have let her go a year ago, before I had to do that $7000 service. Could have made a few payments on a new car with that money.
