Does anyone know if it would be a straight fit or are the 6 series and E60 of different fitments/offset compatibilities?

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks

...absolutely different offsets between the 6er and 5er, but first you need to find out what the actual offset for the rims are, its may not necessarily be the case that the Alpina rims were properly offset for the 6er unless they were custom made, so thats the first step

Ok cool - I will keep the thread updated.

I have the wheels in my garage and am planning to trial fit them to my 545 tomorrow. I would imagine the fronts will go on fine and the rears potentially would be where the problem lies or where the requirement for some modifications is.

Right just been out fitting the wheels.

Rears - fit absolutely fine - no where near the arch, don't stick out silly and well away from the suspension components - so very happy with that!

Fronts - went on fine and turn fine - BUT the tyre is sitting 2mm from the bottom of the shock, so when I lowered the car back down to the ground its way too close for my liking!

1st thing to change would be the tyres as they still have the 255/35/20 tyres on them that were meant for the 6 series that these came off of. But i'm still unsure if this will be enough. I may need a 2mm - 5mm spacer to stick them out away from the shock.

Any opinions?

You should check out dimensions of a 245/35/20 in the same mfr/tread design and see how much margin you might gain. I am going through that on my BBS RS-GT in 20 inch. It is amazing how different the dimensional specs are between prands and treads on same saize tires.

Got a friend at a local tyre place to me to fit up a 245/35/20 and it was perfect in terms of clearance! so thats the way I will go.

After driving the car now with the 20inch rears on (and still my 19s up front) I think with load in the car I will need some minor rolling of the rear wheel arches. So i'll put the 19's back on for now - get my arches rolled at the rear and 2x tyres in the correct size fitted and then put them on.
