Firstly Extended Voice Control allows the driver (or passenger i guess) to command a multitude of functions by voice. Such as "change Cd to XX", "phone the wife", "navigate to XXX" & probably others, but theirs a whole list in the cars manual. If you have the multi-function wheel it has a voice control button located on the right had bank (may be different on LHD cars), this is used to activate the voice control, using commands such as above & detailed in the user manual.
I found out from David that this can be retro-fitted to cars with Nav-Pro & multi function wheel, for a lower cost than the factory option price. The hardware is about ?50 & you may have to pay a labour cost of around ?100-?150 depending on your dealer. My lucky break was due to them having to upgrade my CIP to the latest mp3 enabling version, as the latest software version was a condition of sale applied by me which they did not have chance to do before i collected the car. They will apply the extended voice control software install/labour under the work to be done upgrading my CIP, thus no charge to me.
Think that's about it really
