I haven't posted in a while but thought this was worth a thread.

I've had my 535xi Touring for less than a year. In this time I've trashed 7 run flat tires and 4 rims.
The ride was terrible. Every bump felt like the car would fall apart.
The optional insurance I bought on the rims has run out so I went to tirerack.com and bought a set of 18" MSWs (Cheap and purty, and not too MTV Cribs).

I wrapped 245/40ZR-18 Goodyear Eagle NCT5 RunOnFlat BMW RunFlat
The ride difference is huge!

bellow is the invoice breakdown.

So now I want to replace the roundels. Anyone know the right size?
Also want to get the OEM 19s repaired. Can anyone recommend a wheel-doctor-style aluminum rim repair shop in the New York City area (pref. Brooklyn)?

You really should consider 17" rims and tires.

+1 If the roads where you drive are that horrible it's only a matter of time before the next wheel disaster strikes !

BMW might need to engineer and build half-track e60's for Bklyn!

The high offset for xi wheels makes them particularly susceptible to damage - remember that from my VW/Audi days ... Bent wheels were a way of life

Thanks for the constructive advice.

Yes, the roads suck, plus I'm in DUMBO and we have cobble stones. Luckily I don't drive much around the city and when I do, I know the roads.

So far the 18s are far better, so are these new tires.
The rims were cheep and if this doesn't work out I'm going for 17s. If that doesn't work I'm trading back for a Rover or getting a Crosscountry or Allroad.

Got to say I feel the 19s were more solid at speed... or is it my imagination?

Pm C's Bimmer for some wheel repair places. He will guide you to the right places.
