You have to downsize the sidewall of the tire a notch when upsizing the rim width to keep the overall diameter the same so the ride height will remain the same. No problem with 19's or even 20's but after that you're really riding on no tire

Ive got 19" on sports suspension which is 15mm lower and the ride height is just about low enough. There is still quite a gap in the arch but not too big. I would prefer it to be lowered by another 10mm.

No problem if you keep the tire diameter reasonably constant. Check my gallery photos linked in my sig.

I have OEM 19inch rims on SE suspension 275/30/R19 on the rear and 245/35/R19 front

Looks great no problems with the ride height or the ride - just be VERY VERY careful not to curb it.

Incidentally, I just chaned my rear tyres to conti sport contact 2's and they look really nice on the rims.

Do you have a pic or two of your car?

I'm also seriously interested in Styling 172 wheels with the same tyres as you now have.

I do also have the standard suspension.

This is a low quality pic of my car which I whipped from BMW's site before I bought it:

I'll take some shots of the conti sport contacts when I get a chance (cars VERY dirty right now after scrabbling up a mud track earlier today).

As I said I think they look much better on my wheels than the goodyear f1's I used to have and the pirelli's I still have on the front. They have a really nice curve to the sidewall, which makes the wheel look even wider and seems to match the way my rims arch inward.

The conti's also grip MUCH better than the goodyears. I'm getting hardly any DSC flashing now - even in the wet and they seem to throw up a VERY convincing amount of spray on wet roads.

You can sort of see the way they curve out from the rim in this pic from the continental website:

Pics of the conti's on my (very dirty) car.

If you look at them full size you should see what I mean about them curving out from the rim - makes the wheels look even wider.

the back in the other pic looks a lil high.

19's look good!

I'm thinking of going 275/35/19 rear and 245/40/19 front. it's almost the same diameter as using 275/30/20 rear and 245/35/20 front. but with more sidewall tire so ride won't drastically change.
