19' or 20' for the summer? Any Ride Issues with 20's?

the car was lowered when the dinan package was installed. it was dropped 2 inches...
w/o dropping it, the gap in the wheel well was too much to bare...glad it came out the way it did.
my brother put 20s on his 525 non sport pkg last summer and is in serious need of a lowering kit.
i guess it all depends on ur taste...i say lower with 19s minimum...20s if your feeling froggy...

Mr_rota, you have nothing to worry about. I too is from the great white north, lol. I would not put anything smaller than 20's on the e60. I ran 20's on mine from the time I bought it the ride was nice but there was a gap since I didnt have a sport suspension. Following year, put new springs to lower it and it was right on! Ride was little stiff but still really smooth, it looked sweet
! Pot holes, I avoided them as much as I can. I drove slow anyways in the city cuz I wanted everybody to see me
. Tires, I ran 245/35 in the front and 275/30 in the rears. Good luck, what ever size you go with, im pretty sure it will look nice. Attached is a pic for a reference. Ohh, no rubbin either after lowering.

I'm very happy with the Stock 19".
Im about to buy some wheels for the spring...I want to get 20's but im afraid it may comprimise the ride. Im also worried that the 19's wont fill the wheel well enough though! I have the stock sportpackage suspension and I cant really afford to lower my car. What to do? CHeers!!

what is the complication of 20" wheels? will it stress out drivetrain or suspension?

I ordered summer wheels today. Those are 20inch with 245/35 and 275/30. The diameter is little bigger that normal setup would be 245/30 and 275/25. I was looking 19''s at first but e60 body is so big you could put 22's there. So 19's looks too small..
Even my friends told me to do 20's..
Id say go for 20's..

basically, you have more chance of the tires rubbing......on the fender or inner liner and some people have rubbed on the shocks. you have to make sure you get the right size tires, and have the correct wheel offsets. and usually you have to run a lower profile tire, like a 20 or 25 or 30 series height. and since you have less rubber, you are more prone to wheel damage from potholes.

20" WILL affect the ride and how you drive as well. I recently moved to 20" from 17". I find myself driving slower on roads I normally take in order to avoid rubs caused by uneven pavement. When I first got the wheels, I gave my kids a ride. They didn't notice that I got new wheels. Anyway, 2 min. into the drive they were like, "Dad, how come the car feels bumpy?" BTW, I'm on 245/35/20F 275/30/20R.
