I recently notice that one of my 172's is peeling. I don't know if this still under warranty as it is a 08 550i with 13k miles. Has anyone notice this with there wheels.

It should be under warranty. When the dealer asks you what you use to clean your wheels, reply, "Nothing but soap and water."

+1. I did have a similar issue but on a wheel I had curbed and then "repaired". Several months after the repair I had this peeling issue as well. It was only on the wheel which had been repaired and not the factory finished wheels. Never resolved it as I have since sold the car.

I have that problem with my 124s. It was fine when I took them off. I left them sitting there with all the dirt and brake dust for about 2 weeks and when I washed them, they peeled. But I don't care since I got new wheels.

But now that I think about it. I think it was the wheel cleaner that I used that caused it.

Curious as to how you are cleaning them?

I'm pretty sure it is covered in your 4 year or 50,000 mile factory warranty.

I do noticed the paint on the 172s are not as good as the 124s. I do believe it should be cover under warranty. Mine has very light peeling in some areas but I guess it will not be covered even I have purchased additional wheel/tire warranty.

I had them clean with just normal soap and water. I don't use any abrasive type cleaners. It's just on this one wheel only. I'll show my service advisor wednesday and see what they say. Hopefully they will replace it.

That's definitely a defect , but just to be careful say you wash them with soap and water . It looks like the clear coat or some other sealant is coming off , good luck
