My Ride: 2004 530i Silver Grey Metallic, black leather interior, 172 wheels, 35% tint, comfort, cold weather package, logic 7

Can you install 172s on a non-sport package 04 530? I know they fit but you know what I mean - does it change the drive in any way when compared to 172s on a sport suspension 530.

Going from 17s to 19s....I know Im giving up some ride comfort but how noticeable will the difference be - more vibration, bumpy, road noise?

Cheers

I had the 172's in my e60 which has a sport package and the ride quality was great, I kinda miss them when I switched to 20's. I'm not sure how's the ride quality going to be on a non-sport package though.

If you've been running on RFT's you will not notice any loss in ride quality, it will probably improve...

You are going from 17s to 19s and even on standard suspension (which is quite soft by comparison to the sport suspension), you will still notice quite a difference. It will not absorb bumps quite as well as it does now, but then that might not be a bad thing. You are dropping in tyre size wall which is the thing that cushions most bumps.

Personally, I think even though it will be noticeable, I think the looks alone will far out weigh the ride.

This is only true if both the 17's & 19's utilise non-RFT's. If the 17's are utilising the standard OEM RFT's and the 19's (172's) are utilising the standard OEM non-RFT's then there will actually be an improvement in terms fo ride quality as a result of the non-RFT's softer side-walls as Littlemouse says! This has been discussed many time!

172's look great -- and are the biggest PIA wheel I've ever owned to clean...

You sure you want to go this route?

Hey Thullz,

I got 172's as my summer set and I don't have the sport suspension, either.

Actually the ride comfort (and noice) for 19" non-RF is better than 17" RF's.

The 19" tires are of course very low profile, so look out for pothole.
