I take it the 19" 172 type wheels I have specced are shod with non runflat tyres. I don't like what I have read on various forums regarding these tyres.
I can't remember what the salesman said at the time, it's almost 2 months ago that I ordered it and the car is supposed to be ready commencing the week after the 20th of May, just as we go on our family holiday to Majorca At least i'll want to come home at the end instead of sulking like a teenager.

I don't know what rubbish you have read, but 172s and SC2 are excellent on a sport - even the 'van' version

Thankyou Ricracing, I will be constantly thinking about cars all holiday most probably and end up searching for English motoring mags in obscure shops, sad or what???
I am a little confused, are the conties' non runflat, I have the space saver tyre on my order sheet so I am coming to the conclusion that the 172's are ordinary better handling Richard Priors ( tyres in Northern England rhyming slang) with a sportier Right said Fred (tread) pattern.
Apologies to my non English E60 enthusiasts for the rhyming slang but I have had a couple of glasses of red wine and feel like acting like a James Hunt (work it out)

Correct, non RF and all the better for it. Looks, rides and handles a league above the runflats.
I have had one blowout in over 25 years of driving so willing to risk it.

Pass the bottle...

Exactly my view, the chances of getting a blowout compared to a very hard and unsporty (is that a word) tyre for everyday use is a no brainer for me.
