Quote from a Lexus page (just reading another post here so dont flame me)...
"Tires fitted with 17- or 18-in. wheels are expected to experience greater tire wear than conventional tires. Tire life may be substantially less than 15,000 miles, depending on driving conditions."
Is this true ? And if so why ?

Tire sizes are chosen for optimal handling vs. comfort for each E60 variant. They are not chosen based on Rap music video trends. Bigger tires are not necessarily faster, nor better, nor do the necessarily provide more traction. I've got a John Deere with 30 inch tires that cost less than my 545i-- does that make you jealous too? <_<

A low-profile (and wider) tire will wear out much sooner because of softer rubber and some other issues I do not remember.
I read about this in a couple of car magazines.

So why was the MY04 525 ugly wheels dropped in MY05? what was the change to have caused EVEN better "optimal handling vs. comfort? for the 525 variant"
