Haha thanks... about time eh?
Yeah, and who did you get these wheels from at an AMAZING price? The only person you would never think would sell their 166s.

These are original OEM 172, from an owner who swap them out for guess which? The 166.

As for cleaning, I can see it being a bit tricky and definitely more work than the 124.
I ususally hose them down twice in between an application of wheel cleaner, then hand dry with rags.Takes about half an hour to do all four.
I found a great way to clean the "narrow spokes" - take a wooden chop stick and put a rag over the tip. Its just the right size and cleans that area perfectly...
Great choice - love the 172's

My Ride: 2008 BMW 535i with just about every option- Space Gray/Black/Bamboo Wood/OEM M6 Wheels
Default

Hi, Im new to the Forum, I have owned an 04 M3 Convertible for the last 4.5 years, but I have a 2008 535i on order, loaded with everything on it, and I told the dealership I want to put 19's on it when it arrives, I am torn between M6 wheels or the wheels above '172' the stock 550i sport wheels, both hot wheels. I ordered Ti Silver. Car will be here in July.

172, because the angular look is 3 dimentional which creates an incredible view while the car is in motion.
a silvery 'hole' like a tornado when the 172 passes you on the highway, nice.
i like it.

the 167 M6 wheels, are too open. if your brake calipers are not upgraded to larger more beefy ones preferably coloured, the gap is too wide. this opening with skinny brakes does not compliment the car.

I am upgrading to 19" and was set to get the 166 M5 wheels, they were out of this world good looking and DropDeadGorgeous on the E60. Yet I ended up getting the 172 M wheels instead.
I see the 166 commonly everywhere, there are too many replicas around which took away its novelty, every other bimmer here in Toronto has them as winter spares.

The 172 are far less common and when I saw them up close, they aggressively smile at me. I am really pleased with my decision, especially when viewing from a low angle on the highway, the hollow centre spinning looks HOT its unreal!
I am really excited to share this new toy, I hope to see more 172 owners here on e60.

Got the Continental sport contact 2 to start and hopefully to replace with PS2 next summer.

staggered looks perfect to me, love the stance.
