I have checked with Garry at BMW Newport. He claims that in his catalog only the 28 offsets. Are the 17 mm offset wheels an aftermarket or a european model?

Thanks,
Vegastrashed you were correct! The 166 is available as a 17 mm offset. The reason Garry didn't id it at first is because the wheel is meant for the M6. But it's the exact wheel except for the offset and the same price.

So.. If I go 275 width I get this wheel and go spacerless. If I decide on a 285 wheel, Id just get the std M5 28 offset wheel.

Thanks so much for giving me too many options.

But If i really want the goodyear F1's which aren't available in 285 19's I get the M6 rears.

Go wide ... check out this post.
Your tire set up is whats on the 08 550 with the 19 inch wheel.. Its the BMW recommended set up. Are you using spacers at all. I want to do this without spacers.

Thanks

Just wondering what kind of spacers are recommended. The ones with the longer nuts, the ones with threads, or the ones with studs? Where to buy and how much? Thanks...

Not sure what you mean. Spacers are all the same. The only difference is the company that manufactures them. H&R, Eibach and Ichiba. I had both H&R (10mm) and Ichiba (12mm). They usually come with longer studs.
