I beg to differ. Acording to my insurance company they are not all the same. As far as safety standards yes But there other differences in the composition of the glass and thats probably one of the reasons OEM is OEM and not some off brand windshield.

OEM HUD windshields?
And when BMW is installing them it's the originalls only.

I feel your pain. I had mine cracked twice and replaced once in 9 months of ownership. Mine you that I never ever had windshield cracked on my cars in the last twenty odd years of driving. It makes you wonder...
Could it be aerodynamic issues in E60?
