Hi Guys,

I have a late 2003 e60 with adaptive headlights.
Last week is was pretty foggy and i noticed the beams not moving in corners anymore... The right headlight is constantly all the way to the right, the left one seems to be center.

I have the bavarian tech cable but i can't find any errors related to this issue, also no errors on the idrive. Anyone has any idea?

The led next to the lights switch is also flashing, what does this mean?

Thanks for the help guys

If the LED is flashing, that indicates a malfunction with the adaptive headlights. Unfortunately, you may need to visit the dealer to have them corrected.

Blinking LED is an adaptive headlight malfunction... stepper motor or all new headlight most likely needed. No error in the idrive will show but it should throw a code... at least mine did and I needed a whole new light.

Good luck.

Thanks for the information.

Is there any way to manually set the light straight?

I dont believe so... its mechanical and once the mechanism is shot you're screwed... plus the headlamps are sealed...

this is what happened to me on both headlights now. BMW took care of me both times
But they replaced the whole headlight assembly each time, quite costly if you aren't under warranty and I believe its one of those items that CPO does not cover.

Just curious... if its not covered under warranty or CPO how did you get them replaced? Thats $1600 a pop! I only needed one and it was replaced with my water damage claim but its not cheap for someone to buy.

its covered under new car warranty but not CPO, when my first one went I was just out of new car warranty and when my second one went I was just out of CPO warranty. I have a very good relationship with my dealer, and they used their "customer service" money to cover it for me.

Thanks for the replies all.

I am taking the monster to the stealer on the 9th. I am just letting them check out what the problem is, if it has to be replaced, i will do it myself with a 2nd hand off ebay or something.

Check out this thread there's a link with pictures that tells you how to do it. I have done it before it's pretty easy.
