Now I have some 1/8-mile times:

Best time with no DSC or DTS, on dry:

60ft 2.308 s
330ft 6.285 s
ET 9.510 s
Speed 123.75 kph

Track temp 9.5 Cels.

As some other people have al ready mentioned, CAR IS UNBELIEVABLE at the trac. Really ultimate driving machine! Lesser track cars were not even difficult to pass. Couple Subarus and Mitsubishis were!

This kind of car would be MUCH easier to accelerate with autobox! Red line comes so fast with first gear. Start with second is not an option, because then wheel spin (yes only one) through second gear. Why we can not get that LSD? (not the drug!)

Even weather was cold and rather poor, day was really great . Only tyres got rather... sad looking.

Good times :-)

Interesting that despite having higher peak power and torque figures than a un-modified 535d, it's still a little slower at each increment - 0.2s, 0.3s and 0.4s approx respectively - I'd have thought that the reduced drivetrain loss that not having a torque converter in the way brings might have seen this result the other way round - as you say Skaffa, maybe the gear changes are slowing you down :-(

Can you not get 1/4 mile times - gear changes would have less of an impact then, just acceleration. Great to see someone else getting any figures at all though! Hopefully I'll be posting some DMS remapped 1/4 mile times soon.

It's person who should use the stick proper way. Maybe practise will help? And I should find proper RPM to shift. BMW engineers have done much more work to find that than me! And maybe ZF people too.

To drag up an old thread, it's a shame no 545i's could make it to Santa Pod today. My best time was:

60ft - 2.047s
330ft - 5.820
1/8 mile ET - 8.936
1/8 mile speed - 80.06
1000' - 11.493
1/4 mile ET - 13.806
1/4 mile speed - 99.10

....and I didn't feel particularly happy about that run, but I had to leave as I had an appointment to by another BMW (for my other half ;-) ). Everyone was reporting a lot of wheel spin at the strip this morning - when I got mt previous (pre-remap) figures, I didn't get any, and today I was getting a lot - partly down to the greater torque I suspect, and partly due to the track conditions - oh and partly me not finding the perfect launch - my goal is to hit 100mph and get under 13.8.

I'll let Bangle_box post his own impressive 530d figures ;-)

I think that I should run also full 1/4-mile, because 1/8-start is everything and in that case manual loose to the autobox. If compared mine 1/8-time is so much slower (0,6 sec) but speed is only 3mph slower

Have to say that those 1/8-mile times are impressive.

I like to beleive mine is capable very low 14s and 100mph in full 1/4 mile.

My best time:

60ft - 2.109s
330ft - 6.005
1/8 mile ET - 9.199
1/8 mile speed - 76.91
1000' - 11.881
1/4 mile ET - 14.268
1/4 mile speed - 96.14

And that's with wheelspin off the line still, and need practice on gear change revs (probably not changing early enough).

Fastest speed at 1/4 was 96.35, but ET was 15.1 so something went wrong. Shows there's potential to improve on the ET, but 14.2 is quite good for a 530d.

WOW! Your 535D beat my 545? I didn't know they were that quick, is your stock, or have you had it modified?

Hi Derrick - it's had a remap - that's it - 45 minutes and ?750 of tuning. And still over ?4000 cheaper than a 545i ;-)

Actually, I wouldn't take the figures as being absolutely conclusive - different surfaces can make a difference to 1/8 or 1/4 mile times (although actually, Santa Pod is recognised as having a poor surface for road cars - great for funny cars on huge slicks however!), so I'd really want to see a side by side test - same place, same day, to really say my car was quicker. Unfortunately, I couldn't find anybody in the UK with a 545i who wanted to play

I assume your car is an automatic?

Cheers, Clive
