The 08 E60/E61 has been in the country for a month now and I haven't seen a single one on the road yet. Since I have ordered a 520d with 17 inch 244's, I am pretty desperate to see an E60/61 with these wheels either in the flesh or in this forum. Anyone?

Those orange reflectors on the front wheel arches are terrible! What was BMW thinking?

Apart from those, great engine, great car!
Looks like the ones from bicycle to me.

But is mandatory to have it in the US, oh well

That orange reflector is a US DOT requirement. In the 2007s it was integrated into the corner of the front headlight structure, but in the 2008s (where the headlight structures are clear) they had to put it somewhere, and the choice seems to have been the wheel arch. I bet it's not removable, but am very sure it adds immeasurably to safety.

I do not see the orange/amber color on new(recent-latest) autos (US and Non US )
Maybe US requirements about this have changed and most of us are not aware of it
Tint guidelines too.

can you not just put a cover on it. I've seen a number of 3er coupes on E90Post with overs on their wheel arch reflectors. would the police really stop you for this, especially with the pre LCI not having it. I think there could be an E60 Forum "reflector cover" group buy coming along...

How come the 335i features a dual outlet and the 535i uses the same old dual tip? Man that's just wrong.

Oh and I couldn't agree more with that ugly orange reflector by the front wheel. I guess they took it out from the headlight and decided they have to put it back somewhere.
