08 535 Disabled

Hi there. New to the site and I just wanted to take my mind off my current situation for a bit. I’m currently stuck here in Orange County as my 535’s shift lever assembly decided to not cooperate. My car wouldn't get out of park, it doesn’t even illuminate. Luckily I have friends that work at BMW and diagnosis is that I need a new shift lever assembly. I found a used but didn’t work also so I have to pick one up one again at a different place. Hopefully it would work and I can be on my way back to Vegas. Has anyone experienced this issue?

No, but mine sometimes fights me. Normal operation there are two detents: fore and aft of neutral, and mine won't move aft to fetch D. Wiggling it around and I can get it in gear. Time to take mine apart and check for broken parts and re-grease the detent thingy.
