I recently had some overheating problems. It seems that the radiator fan doesn't always come on. I did a quick test with a jumper wire to test it and it wouldn't come on. I took it in to a trusted shop for import cars and they told me the fan needed replacement.
I was hoping to just replace the motor in the fan (with this guide) but not completely sure if this will fix it so I was looking at replacing the whole shroud. The genuine fan is $800 so I am looking for an aftermarket one that is cheaper and good quality. Does anyone have a recommendation for an aftermarket shroud assembly? Has anyone had any experience with the Dorman ones?
Thanks in advance!

Forgot to mention I am located in Texas, so if there are any aftermarket fans that work better for hot climates that would be great.

Pretty sure the fan isn't just on/off. I think it is PWM controlled. Search some more and you should find some info. I think one thing I read once said that if it isn't real cold out and you turn on the car and the A/C right away the fan should come on.
