Was cleaning my car the other day, found that the rear BMW badge is oxidising around the edge, about 2 inches long, bit annoyed by this, thought the badges would last longer than 3 years like. Anyone else experienced this?

Picked up a new one off ebay last night for £10 with grommits to replace it, how hard are they to get off? I take it they just pop off and back on again?

Yes. Our salted roads contribute. More common on the ones in the wheel centres.

You need to prise it off carefully with a screw driver with cloth to avoid damage to paint work.

The ones on the wheels can be popped out when the wheel is removed, from behind.

Yep, the wheel centre ones on my 05 corroded so I replaced them with the new design ones.

My M-Sport kick plates corroded too, hoping their replacements last a bit longer.

I've had the front one go on my previous BMW's but never the rear. Yes, absolutely make sure that you use a cloth on the tip of the screwdriver. It shouldn't take much force to pry off. Just be patient. G/L

Quick Update:

Managed to get the rear badge off, proved an absolute sod to get off, used the cloth and screwdriver method, just really struggled to get it out of the gromits, but eventually came off, thank god!

Cleaned all the crap off and got the new gromits in, then gave the new badge a damn good bashing to get it on lol, looks good now that the cars all polished, you can really tell the difference. Cheers for the help guys...

I can understand wanting to remove a model number, but not the BMW badge, it looks a class apart on the e60. It really gives it style, why not just change it for a carbon one?

I think the proper term for the piece you speak of is the BMW Roundel.
