I have been looking at this forum for the last few months because I'm in the market for a used 530i with the sport package. What I am really looking for is an 06 or 07 because of the power 255hp difference, But I have seen many 04-05's pop up with the exact color and options I am looking for but I have seen a few threads that say stay away from them because of the less hp rating. But I have to ask BMW went back to less hp rating with the 528i so do they feel just like the older 04-05's??

Should I pull the trigger on an 05 even though it has less hp, I can update the Idrive, I only drive about 6miles to work and only put about 6k miles a year on my car. I have found some low mileage older ones that appear to be in mint condition and priced accordingly.

Most important is test drive the cars. I would go for the 08 528i its LCI 05 is pre LCI. Might not even have the push button start.

if a push start button is really a deal breaker thats odd. push start has to come with comfort access otherwise that key still has to be in the "ignition" to start it. Dont base buying your car off a push button, thats just stupid imo

Ya I don't care about push button start and I am really not interested in an 08 just wonder why they went back to less hp, maybe the 225hp is good enough??

I'm basically saying go for new you can easily Mod your car to get extra hp if needed.

they didnt go back to less hp 07 525i has 215hp

They didnt go back, just as lady5killah said... in before the 525 was the lowest model with 215hp and the 530 got 225 or was it 255? whatever the case back then it was

525, 530 and 545

now

528, 535 and 550

so they never went back... just introduced new models with more HP

Then how come an 06-07 530i has more hp than a 08 528i.
I really was just curious if anyone drove both and what the 08 528i felt like compared to an 04-05 530i?? Cause I've been looking at 04/05 530's
