The dynamic drive malfunction has popped up on i-drive for last week.
car will lock out tranny and not allow car past first or second gear.
A/C shuts off, radio shuts off.

I have read that this problem has been off and on with these cars.

Could be sensor that needs replacing? or Software update?

I replaced battery about 3 months ago and that "HAD TO BMW REGISTERED"
The car completely farted on me when stopped at red light. (VOLTAGE DROP)
So $60.00 bucks later, dealer registered the battery to the car.

That is such B/S I feel like!

Love to drive the car, hate the stinkin computers that drive these cars somedays.

Thanks for any and all help!

Dynamic Drive on a 2004? Could you mean Active Roll Stabilization? In any case, can you check the power steering/hydraulic fluid reservoir? The cap says CHF-11S Only. It is on the left side of engine near the coolant reservoir. If you need to add, CHF-11S is the name for the OEM hydraulic fluid made by Pentosin.

Happened to me. It's the alternator. First time it happened, we changed the battery. Then the same problems popped up a few months later. DD malfunction, active roll, radio and AC went out. Brung it in to the service department. Replaced the alternator. Been fine ever since.

Alternator all day. I've been through this. When the alternator is changed, make the battery is good too. Apparently one kept frying the other and I went through two sets of each to get it done right. Stupid dealer.

What was the approximate cost of the Alternator being replaced?

I feel your pain, because everything is operated through the computers....its makes the driver feel helpless in these situations. You can't even go under the hood of your car....I hate feeling handicapped

Ok so I just got a 04 545i sport package with 68K miles and the dynamic malfunction is appearing as well. when I check details it says that the active roll didn't adjust or something like that. Also i notice that when i drive the car pulls a little to the left and i have to have the wheel to the right to compensate. what you guys think. Im new to bmw's but not new to cars. Yea i know the dealer should look at it but i got it for a good price and it was sold as is contract and got it knowing this issue already.
