Thinking of gettng a 2004 530i with 77k miles. Any info I need to know?
Problems? (Electrical, mechanical etc)
Maintenance costs
I can handle some small DIY stuff (oil, tranny, changes, etc..)
Right now looking at this

Tons of problems with SMG. Out of warranty and with 75k+ miles, I would stay FAR away from that car. The tow hook cover missing is also not a very good omen...

Stand away from the car !!!! You should not tow an automatic geared car, why is the eye hook cover missing????

LOL Yes, defo.
We had an M6 part exchanged with us, it worked fine in auto, and fine when using the tip tronic auto, but as soon you used the flapply paddles, it had a flappy wobbly.
So off to the local BMW dealer for a quote to repair:
£8,000 + VAT.....
So off to auction the M6 went!
Don't buy SMG, they're fooooooking scarey!

I would definitely suggest not buying an SMG that is out of warranty, especially the older ones. I have a 04 530i with manual 6 speed and its been a great car

I have a 2004 545i SMG, no issues so far, I have over 75K on the clock. And the tow hook cover missing means nothing, could have came off at the car wash for all we know. And I drive almost exclusively in manual mode.
