I've been battling this issue for weeks. I'm getting a fault 9852 - SBSL: Short circuit, firing circuit, front airbag, left, stage 2 (E85), or active head restraint, front left(E6x), to ground. This causes an orange SRS light on my cluster.
When I unplug the connector for the charge the error changes to 9857 (Open circuit) so I don't think the problem's with the car's harness. I measured the resistance of the charge and it's 2 ohm so as expected.
So I took the seat apart, found and replaced the charge canister with a known working one, then cleared the error. It worked for a couple of days but now fault 9852 is back so instead of swapping a third one I want to code this feature out.
I did some research but could not find anything applying to my car because it's so old (pre-03/05)
I tried looking for these: AKS_LINKS_1_CD - I don't have this coding value in any of the modules KOEPFST_BEIFAHRER - should be in SGM but I can't find it there.
My car does not have ABG or ACSM modules, only SGM and SBSL/SBSR
You would look in your SBSL/SBSR to code out functions
I'm sorry but i have to ask
Did you read my thread at all?
I said where I was looking and what are the keys supposed to be but these are just not there in my case.
Yes I did read your intial post. You said you tried to fix the problem and failed and now you couldn't find the parameters to code out feature. What did I miss. I think you're not understanding my responses.

You missed the part where I read the entire coding of SBSL/SBSR and SGM and the options pertaining to active headrest are nowhere to be found
I didn't mean it as an attack but to me it kinda looked like I said "I looked in the SBSL for coding option and it's not there" and you were like "look in the SBSL then"
You know what I mean?
If you know the value to change in SBSL (the ones from my initial post are not there) then please share it
No I was responding to you not being able to find it and you not having an ABG or ACSM. I don't know the actual parameters because it's been a while since I've coded it out but I do remember where to look. I think it was a couple places actually. If I'm not physically working it it's hard for me to pinpoint the steps since it's been a while. I mostly fix issues and not code them out since it's not expensive to do and actually solves the issue. What are you using to identify your car modules and searching for parameters.
As I remember the error mostly it was a wiring issue next a module issue. I remember BMW coming out with a repair kit which involved the cartridge but that was for certain situations that were far few in between.

Yeah.. I tried fixing it first, with switching out the canister. At this point I'm not buying another one. One more thing I'll try is I'll remove the seat, carpet and look at the SBSL itself and its wiring. But I've also tested the connectors on the seat (both on the canister and car harness side) and there were no shorts between any of the connections. The cables and insulation look good too, no visible damage. That'll be the fourth time I'm removing the seat and going thru the harnesses - which is why I'm ready to resort to coding this out
For programming/coding I use NCSExpert and WinKFP, for diagnosis I have INPA and ISTA available
