Apparently my local BP station has been using 15% Ethanol in their gas and not posting it. The dealership the first time (last year) could not duplicate the problem. It started happening again. Start the car. The rpms go from 500 to 1500 back and forth for a few minutes. If you put it in reverse while your foot was lightly on the brake the car would lurch and lunge backwards. Not good when you are backing out of a 9 ft opening once the gate retracted.
The dealership had the same problems I did, this visit. Tested the gas...15% Ethanol.
I am LIVID. Have already made arrangement so I will have Cheveron cards within a week and will cut up the BP cards we share !
And yes I always use premium.

I thought they had to tell their customers when they started mixing fuels, hmm, that is worrisome. It's not like BP doesn't have enough problems right now. I would write a letter or email their corporate office to let them know the problems they caused - especially if my car wasn't under warranty.

The dealership is bringing my car back tomorrow to swap with their loaner. We were actually going to stop usingh BP anyway. I live on the gulf coast. BP is willing to "pay" shrimp boaters, fisherman, etc 5,000 for lost income due to the spill. However, they make them sign that they will not be involved in any litigation. Unfortunately, many of these workers are not well educated or some, english is not their primary language. They do not realize what they are signing. They will be unemplyed for at least a year due to the spill if not longer. Class action lawsuits are already gearing up and these folks would be signing their right to that away.

And of course I just filled up with BP today. Should have read this before I went out? Thinking about it I filled up with BP last time too. Does the 15% not apply to premium?
