If you were looking for a manual E34 525i for a DD, would you hold out for a '93+?
I'm going to look at a '91 525i manual tonight. Seems to be a clean, well maintained car with 178k miles. Both of my previous E34's, a '91 and a '93 had around 125k, so I'm hoping that mileage isn't a concern if it was well maintained.
My question is if you would wait to find a '93+ (M50TU), or buy a clean '91-'92 (M50) if you found it. I didn't have much time with my '91 and I don't recall the MPG difference, but I've heard the VANOS engines get considerably better mileage, and nicer for in-city driving. Normally I'd wait for the car I think is the better option, but I'm spending $12 per day commuting to and from work, and I see very few manual E34's come up for sale. What would you do? * Also, did all 93+ E34's come with color matched side skirts? |
