Default e12 info

Hello gents.

I'm currently looking at buying my first e12. Its a 1980 model 525. Its not pristine as the body needs a bit of work, drive train is good, interior a bit nackered. Problem is, and its a crazy one, the owner says the car uses roughly a pint of oil per 10-15km. Insane I know.

No smoking exaust and no leaking visible. Any ideas what could be wrong there or what I should look at?

wait, am I reading that right? A pint of oil per 10-15km?!?!?! not 10-15 thousand km?!?!?

that is insane. if it's not consuming it, it's got to be puking it like crazy. oil loss at that rate should be easy to diagnose. that is a serious problem. how many miles are on the engine? there's no way oil loss like that shouldn't be able to be picked out in ten seconds or less. that is literally like it's coming out as fast as you're putting it in.

Yes you are. This is what puzzles me, no smoking and no leaks, that I can see.

Are you looking for leaks with the car on the ground or up on a lift? You need to see it on a lift.
