e28 Woes
So I ditched buying the e12 and opted for a better condition e28 525e. I believe its the 2.7L engine. Just got the car home this evening, the ride is quite comfortable to say the least. I do have a few issues I need to sort out though. These are as follows....
Runs very rich as I get lots of black smoke out of the exhaust.
A bit of a hesitation on the gearbox, whereby I need to give it a slight rev before it engages, and also it sounds as if it slips out of gear when I drive it. I think this would be down to low oil levels. Still need to check this.
Other than that, I'm happy. As I have never owned one before, could you guys possibly give me some advice regarding these two issues please.
Thanx

good luck with the car. yes, you have the infamous ETA engine, M20B27. If you do not have any documentation on when the timing belt was done last, that's the first thing that I'd do and I'd do it right away. I have owned/worked on many M20 powered cars in the past (still have one in the garage), when you get more settled with the car if you need any help PM me. your valves may be out of adjustment, after the timing belt that's the second thing I'd do. out of spec valve lash will make an M20 run like garbage.
good luck.
good luck.
