The dealer can reset the airbag light.

I think the car will need to be re-programmed by the dealer to get your seats working.
+1.

Welcome and congrats for the new car, Dr Dave.

interesting project, something I have been thinking of doing on my cloth equipped 530D as well. If you don't mind me asking, what is the going rate for a leather interior? I was quoted around ?800 for a leather retrim over the standard seats but haven't gone ahead as I'd prefer the "standard" look of BMW leather and wonder if I will get this with a retrim.

>thank you for your replys...im in surrey by the way, are there any good independants near guildford?

Just a long shot but I spoke to this company about fitting a Mobridge IPOD adaptor a few weeks ago, they are in Byfleet and sounded like they knew what they were talking about. It would seem as though they have full programming access to the BMWs so might be worth a quick call to see if they can reset the airbag error. Check here:

http://www.cartronics.co.uk/index.cfm?pID=2722

reference "BMW,Mercedes,Porsche,Audi &Volvo Coding - 21-06-2008

No more expensive trips to the main dealer, we can now code all module & update software levels in the above vehicles.

Add iPod
Add 6 CD changer
Activate Aux Input
Add Keys to cars
TV disable the security features so it works on the move"

i paid ?500 for the compleate m sport black leather, with heated.. memory.. and full electrics, i also got all 4 door cards with trim .
the back seats were very different (more substantal) my old cloth ones had a almost foam back, but the leather ones are split 2-1 and had a hard/solid back, and had seperate side bolsters, but fitted perfectly.
there are a few interiors going on ebay for ?650 but i got mine via breaker-link.

good luck
david.

i have just got off the phone with cartronics byfleet, and they said for ?75 inc, they can reset the air bag warning message, or for ?125 inc, they will do a compleate reprogram that should fix the seat problem also.

ps: if anybody wants the interior (grey tweed style) its going FOC.

what is the "wiring component"? on the old seats there was 1 large yellow block connecter
and on the new seats there is 1 large yellow block connecter also, and they fitted

am i missing something?
thanks for all your help guys.
well i am not absolutely sure there is another component that needs to be installed, but usually this is the case, when you retro-fit any electronic device you need to ammend the wiring tree of the car with an OEM extension/component. i'm only speculating here, please check with the dealer; using your chassis number, they should tell you wether the wiring tree needs to be ammended or not. Hope this helps...

could any one who understands car electrics please tell me if this is a job any vehicle electrition can do or do i need to find someone who understands the e60?
only it looks so complicated to me?
has anybody looked at the link to how to retro fit these?
and are the cars wiring the same for left hand/right hand drive, as the diagram is for a left hand drive car?

out of painful experience, only allow e60 specialists to work on the car...
