The volume knob does not work for the volume but I can mute the sterio with it. Is the promblem the volume knob or somthing else? Is it a big problem to replace it?

If you mean it doesn't control the volume right after you start the car, then it's normal. It takes a little time for the Idrive to fully boot up and then the volume control knob will work. It's the same with the bluetooth connection. It takes a minute or so. Now if it doesn't work after the car has been running for a few minutes or so, then you might have a problem.

If you are just looking for the knob, better try another dealer. My dealer ordered a replacement knob for me. Turned out the knob wasn't the problem and they ended up replacing the radio faceplate. All under warranty.

I have gone for years without ever turning radio or music on in my vehicles. Like Bill Cosby used to say: "Turn the dang radio down; I can't read the street numbers."

I would open the unit and check the soldering of the rotary encoder. Use contact spray too. If that doesn't work, you can get the basic radio for very low prices on ebay (less than 100 euro on ebay.de).

Good luck
