Great work on the videography. I thought the way you framed every shot without exposing your face worked out perfectly. What kind of camera were you shooting on?

My only critique is less use of the cheesy spotlight text effect. Instead, just overlay the text on top of the video and you'll have a much cleaner and shorter edit.

First thanks goes to the pioneering efforts to MiamiPhil. His post was invaluable. Seen here Phils Post

I finally got the courage to do my own oil change. I recorded my efforts today and hope you all enjoy!

I have to warn you that I could not yet shrink the file down to a small size. This is a rather large video and about 25 minutes long. Please only view it if you want to really see it. I look forward to all your comments!

Cheers,

N

Thanks for the tips. The cheezy text was out of pure laziness. The next cut will be a little better. I also did not want to ruin the shot with my ugly mug so I did keep it out. The camera of choice I used is a Canon Optura 300. It is a great camera I have had for a few years that is small enough for travel but still good quality.

Thanks again!

I will see if I can post it to my FTP site. It may require the latest version of Quicktime too. Sorry for the problems.

That is toooo F'ing funny. I have changed my oil 100's of times on every car that I own and never once did I ever think to tape it. I do have to say I was very impressed that you had the beer during the process. An oil change just isn't the same w/out beer.
heard that brother! always have to have a beer whenever your in the garage working

I was kinda waiting for the Cloverfield monster to appear.
I think that damn monster jumped out when I was trying to pull the old filter out of the housing. I wish that I would have gotten that on tape. The damn thing puked oil all over the front of the car and garage floor. Had to change out the cardboard I was using for a mat.

The oil looks dirty. How many miles since your last oil change?

First: Thanks for taking the time to compile and post (and host) the video - much appreciated.

Second: If I could make a request... is there any way to have a link to the video so I could download it instead of having to watch it online?

May I suggest putting it in youtube.com, where it will be video streamed rather than waiting for it to download. Good Video. Thanks.
