Hi hope some one can help.

About a month ago the truck release catch stopped working so I had to use the key or remote control. Put it down the the cold weather, but after some messing around turning the key in the lock it started working again. Last week I was picking the kids up from school and tried to pop the trunk with the remote but nothing happened, same with trunk catch so used the key. Then the truck wouldn't shut, after several minutes of wondering how I would get home with a open trunk I decided to click the lock a few times manually, luckily this did the trick and the trunk locked. All was well again until to yesterday, came back to the car trunk again wouldn't open with remote or catch , had to us key and the only way to lock it was to press the lock button on the remote when trunk was open, this is at the moment the only way I can open and close the boot. Also when I have the lights on and hold the boot catch the number plate light dims as if something is shorting. I am thinking I need a new Trunk Lid Lock, with micro switch, but I find it strange that you can hear the lock working okay when the boot is up. Any ideas gratefully recieved as I don't want to buy parts that I might not need.

sounds like your lock is sticking. Cold weather can dry up lubricants. I would spray WD40 on you trunk lid lock jamb.
