I need the exact proceudure for filling my automatic tranmission.
i just replaced the pan due to it leaking. about 5 quarts came out plus it has been leaking so how much should be going back in?
I have been searching this forum and I am still not clear
shoud the engine be at operating temp?
Should the engine be running when filling the last quart/liter?
I had initially filled with 3 quarts, started the engine then added #4 with the engine NOT running. That was all I could get in.
Then when I pulled the plug again I lost about an 1/8 of a qrt. Then I tried with the engine running and was able to get almost a whole other qrt in. That would be almost 5 qrts which seems about right I think.
Any one have the exact procedures?
Thanks

I think I explained in my posts before. I filled in as much as possible until fluid leaked out with engine off. Then I run the engine ON for a while, then filled in again with engine still running, until it leaked out again. That was it.
I just wanted to be sure all is the same on the 545. FYI - fill plug is on the right side and fairly easy to get to.
U read somewhere that the engine also meeds to be no more than 85-120 degrees F.
Thanks again for all the help.
