Hi all,

Please see the pics below. A neighbor kid shut the door while her umbrella was still out and it tore the rubber seal.

Is there a DIY that is recommended for this? Or, a replacement part? Trip to the dealer $$?

Any help, links or info is appreciated.

Make the neighbor pay for it :P

I think you need a new seal...

It's very simple to replace the door seal. Contact Garry at Newport BMW, you get 25% discount for being E60.net member.

They did offer. But, they're really hurting for money now. I'm hoping to find an fix that's nearly invisible. :-)
No missing pieces, and it does fit back together nice.

Try crazy glue if it's such a clean tear, it might just do the trick and save you some $$$! :geek: If not, you could always repair it then!

I don't know about that... Since the tear is at the top of the door, I wouldn't risk it now with the summer rain in Florida.
+1 for Gary!

How about a bicycle tire patch kit. Cut the rubber to fit over the tear, then apply the adhesive? Anyone?

Works on my Gary Fisher.

I like the tire patch idea; look for some sort of rubber glue that will provide a water-tight seal. It'll probably work for a while, but you will have to eventually replace it.
