like the title says i installed a pair of silverstars for fog lights today. they were used on my truck and i dont drive it much anymore so i decided to swap lights. really easy mod with the help of pics provided from this forum and it took me less than an hour. a couple screws, manipulating hand and arm around the inside of bumper and around objects, and replacing factory bulbs with sylvania's bulbs... pretty easy. the only thing is they dont look too much different from the factory ones but oh well at least i know exactly how to do it and what to expect when i either put in piaa xtreme white or an hid kit. hopefully they'll look better at night. next mod: led license with resistors... all parts ordered and in the mail.

You want to get the Siver Star Ultras. I put them in my truck and they are BRIGHT! A lot brighter than the original Silver Stars. Problem is they burn out so quick. So far the Ultra's have been better in light output and life.

Just my opinion.......But I wanted my fogs to match my xenon headlights and I tried the Silverstar Ultras. Total waste of time...they looked no different at all than stock in color and were barely brighter. There are some pretty extensive postings on this topic if you do a search, but the consensus appears to be that PIAA Extreme Force and the Mtec 2x Super White bulbs are the best choices. The PIAA ones are really expensive and are not silver tipped, so you get a noticable blue reflection when they are off. I went with the MTec bulbs and have been very happy. To be honest because the fogs won't stay on automatically, and you have to manually remember to turn them on every time, they just don't get used that much.

Hope this helps.

Silver Stars are a joke considering how much they cost. You would do much better with HOEN or other aftermarket bulbs. Plus they are almost half the cost of the Sylvania's!

How do the Mtecs look? Do they also look blue like the PIAA? I hope not, I hate that blue look, I just want bright white..

I just installed these and have to say for 40 bucks its a much whiter look than the Stock yellow. Great bang for the buck and easy install about 30minutes for both sides.

Go with SuperNova Plug and Play HID Conversion Kit. Hyper White 10x more life then any halogen bulb!
