Seems a bad sunroof seal is pretty common on the E60, leading to excessive wind noise in the cabin. Has anyone replaced the seal themselves? Easy? Difficult? Any pointers?

I've never done it but it seems simple enough...

I had my dealer do mine, the part was $47 from Advanced/Oriley/AutoZone. It took them about an hour.

How much did you pay for the seal?

34.50 CHF (roughly 30 USD), at the dealer.

Hi Rudy
Thanks for the PDF.
I'm planning to do the same for my E61. I have the feeling though that your instruction is for the standard roof?
If so would you know where I could find one for the panoramic sunroof on an E61 as I think it might be different.
Appreciate any help
Thanks!

You are correct that the E61's panoramic roof adds some complexity to the seal replacement process. Below are a few documents I created to help figure out the differences...

Seal replacement - main panel:
Master_RA__Replacing_seal_for_slide_tilt_sunroof_frame.pdf

Seal replacement - rear panel:
Master_RA__Replacing_seal_for_slide_tilt_sunroof_lid_at_rear.pdf

And for good measure, I created a document dedicated to the adjustment of the panel since there have been so many instatnces of wind noise with the panaroamic roof:
Master_RA__Adjusting_glass_slide_tilt_sunroof_lid.pdf
Keep in mind that the above adjustment document is integrated into the seal replacement - main panel document above...
