I haven't done it on my BMW, but I've done it on several other cars I have owned - its pretty straight forward. The trick is to make sure you have the clearance needed to position the snake belt around the pulleys. You may have to remove some other items first. There should be some sort of diagram that shows you how to position the belt.
One of the pulleys is spring loaded for tension and needs to be released in order to do the swap. There shoud be some sort of hole that a tool can be used as a lever to release the tension (I've always found a 1/2" drive ratchet hole and used either a breaker bar or 1/2" drive ratchet). Then just remove the old belt and install the new one. Hope this info helps.
