Does anyone know how hard it is or how expensive the parts are?

Ball joints from where? Control arms, tension arms, sway bar links, etc... ???

I think by the control arm. I just replace my driver side control arm and I still here a knocking sound when I hit something or go over a pot hole or bump. My mechanic said it's the ball joints and have to be replaced.

Well... first of all you should always do this type of repairs in pairs and not just one side.

If your mechanic changed the control arm and it's a new one, the ball joint should be brand new as well. The front control/tension arm has a bushing and a ball joint (#11). You can just change the bushing or the whole arm. The second control arm (#16) in the front aft of the hub also has the same design. But this one won't have a replaceable bushing. You will need a whole new arm. The sway bar links are simply a stick with a couple of ball joints that connect the strut collar to the sway bar in the front. None of these components should be making a knocking noise though.

Perhaps you are talking about ball-bearings? These are located inside the hub of the wheel which facilitates a smooth rotation by having a series of packed metal marbles which are greased. It's part #5 in the diagram. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...60&hg=31&fg=10

Now you lost me. Lol honestly, I went to the mech, and he said my left control arm was bad so I changed it. Then je said you should change the bushings.. So I did, and after all that. I went back to get my car and he said from me having the car so low for so long, I have to replace the ball joints. ??? All I know is, it sti sounds like aoose control arm. But it's not that.

Then it could be ball joints.

Your tech should have diagnosed the ball joint problem when he was working on your car.
He could have done all that when he was working on the control arm.

There are two control arms (Tension and Wishbone control arm). They are both control arms. Both have bushing and ball joint on each end
- Part #11 and #16

If it's wheel bearing then it's clunking w/ growling noise.

Tell your tech to identify the main issue. Wiggle your suspension connections to find clicking noise / clunk or other imperfection. It shouldn't that bad.
