i am trying to remove the cover on the upright where the door closesagainst the windscreen. There is an air bag beneath the cover so i am worried. The reason is because of a rattle behind the cover, the dealer told me they can not find anything wrong so i thought i would look myself. If anyone has pics showing this would be great.
thanks

Thanks stream -- I was "Acrobat-less" on my primary machine and unable to jump in with the details.

525iiii, be sure and heed the following airbag safety warning:

Before performing any work in the area of an airbag system, make sure that the ignition is off and the key is removed!

Proceed at your own risk! I've never removed that piece!

As I said, I haven't done this myself, but I would assume (and you know what assume stands for... ) that it would pry out with a screw driver. Since the instructions don't call for disconnecting the battery, I would assume the airbags are not powered when the ignition is off. And you may have other issues if you disconnect the battery.

FYI--I used Word since I don't have Acrobat on my PC. I set the default printer to MS Office Document Image Writer, print, open Word, insert picture from file. Then compress pic to web/screen--it took a 2.5 MB file and reduced it to 240 KB.
Yeah, I just prefer .pdf format since it's more universally readable. Also, I like to include any linked pages that TIS has to make it one complete document. One of these days, I'll get around to installing Acrobat on my newer, primary machine...

I agree on the merits of pdf--just don't want to spend the $300! There's a free word reader now:
