Has anyone tried removing the innards of their DPF? - did the engine management object?

Mine is blocked for the second time. It has never shown any kind of warning light for the blockage, just gone into limp mode without warning. I'm tired of cleaning it out, but can't afford to splash out £900 on the Ecotune pipe replacement. I'm a handy welder though and can easily open up the can and close it again, so that would seem to be a sensible way to go for me.

I guess I can get her remapped after, but I just want to know what to expect.

Experiences anyone????

I did the DPF delete on my Ford F-250 Truck and in my case, I needed a tune to prevent any error codes and the car going into constant clean mode. Not sure about the BMW, but I would think that if a Ford has a sensor for it, then a BMW would too.
