I noticed in a 2010 Mercedes E350 I rented today that if I hold down the "lock" button on the keyless remote it locks all doors and rolls up all windows. I previously understood the Federal Government regulators would not allow that feature in the United States...yet I see it on this US Mercedes. Can anyone shed light on why I can't get that feature programed into my remote key ?

After proper coding I can do those things w/ my car :whistle: ... it folds my mirrors too ...

I can do that with my CA Fob ... w/o any special coding.

:confused: I have had 3 E60s with CA and none of them close windows from the remote without special coding. Maybe somneone coded yours before you got it?

Luigi thats interesting... I was under the impression US BMW cars were not able to have that feature because of "legal issues"?

I think that's where the anti-trap feature comes in ... but I can actually close windows AND moonroof by holding down the fob button OR keeping my finger on the CA lock area on the door after the doors lock. I have not requested any special coding or work-around for this feature - it's also detailed in my owner's manual

That is what I was told and I believed it until I saw that the US Mercedes all do it. I know it can be done because identical cars in Europe do it. But my dealer says it is not possible... Hmmmm.

But to make it easier for you, please turn to pages 32 - 34 for the information you need for the CA feature your dealer didn't know about.

Luigi- Thanks for the help. I misunderstood you. I was looking to learn why holding the lock button down on the remote key does not roll up the windows as it does in other brands such as the Mercedes mentioned in my original post above. My dealer tells me it is not possible on a BMW yet other car manufacturers do it. Plus, identical BMWs in Europe allow the remote wireless key to roll up the windows. Thanks again for your time.
