Posting this in case anyone was wondering or needed proof: the DK13HLQ can in fact rear-lift the E60.

The diff is not generally recommended as a lifting point - puts a lot of stress on the mounting bushes....

I do it under the side of the car. Put your hand and feel it. There is a place where you can place the jack and lift the car up. I do it whenver I have to remove the wheels for a proper cleaning of it.

cheers

First of all 'nice jack' you've got there. They're no longer available in the US. However, I would be careful in that the rating for the DK13 is not very high.

I've been researching the jacking issue for my current car and there are 'jack adapters' available that give you a better mounting surface when lifting the BMW. The lift points are usually available at realoem.com.

There are 2 jack pads on the each side of the car, front and rear, behind the side skirts. You can lift the whole side up using one jack pad. On the LCI there are raised arrows on the side skirts to show where the jack point is. I changed the saddle on my floor jack with a saddle that fits the plastic jack point perfectly. I bought it from Pelican Parts.

Agree with the availability of DK13. I could not find it in US stores. I ended up buying the OTC 5202 which looks similar to DK13 and similar rating (2 tons). The only drawback is the max. height not tall enough. I like the slow release feature in 5202. It gives me much more control of the dropping rate when lowering the car back on ground. My other floor jack (Central Hydraulic) was almost not control of the dropping rate at all.

Can you show us where in realOEM.com shows the lift points ?
